"Destination dreamworld"
(c) TNK, May 8th, 2001

Wooooo-hooo !
This is a real oldie that found it's way to the ModArchive in a very original way.

In the very first days of 2023 - so almost 22 years after this track has been composed - I've got a message on my shoutwall on Modarchive, a site that keeps our oldies like this one alive on the internet.

This message featured a link to a YouTube video on which you could see a part of a laptop playing a song... actually THAT song. The guy who posted me this message claims he were desperately looking for that track and downloaded every of my productions available on The Modarchive to find it. Bad luck, it wasn't there.

The track that you could hear in the video indeed brought up some memories. Very old ones actually. Yes, I remember that tune but... how's it called ?

I thus went on a speleology mission. This time it was not destination Dreamworld but destination time machine, right down in the cellar, where some old dust gathering backup CDs are stored in a crate. One of those CDs was labeled : Modules - 2000-2001. Yep, it could be on this one.

Brought it upstairs to where my computer is. Tried if the CD still works. It did : a long, very long, listening session followed, exploring the /unreleased directories, in which I found many many many many tracks. Most of them sucked but... well... some were still kinda cool, even if very different of what I could and would do nowadays. Among them, was that TNK_DDWD.IT file (see, back then I still used the good'ol' DOS naming convention !).

As soon as the first notes played, I knew I found the track that guy was looking for... and there it is ! Almost 22 years after being composed, during a sunny may day, it' now time to officially unveil it, here on the Modarchive...

Isn't this a funny story ?

Of course, since that time, many things changed in my life. I don't track anymore (altough I had a request to compose a 4-channels amiga .mod chiptune 2 years ago, which I did. The result of that request is called "Lockdown liberation", a song against the Covid-lockdowns, available here : https://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=191200), I barely make any music, I grew well... older and I became... a novelist.

However, in all of my novels, In the afterwords, I still greet the demoscene (Lizardking,...), in which I spend my youth, and also the two girls - Corinne and Muriel - that were in all of my modules. Actually, Corinne even became the model for most of my female characters :-)

During those years, my vision of life changed too, especially recently, due to the Covid 19 crisis. Destination dreamworld is an obsolete title now as I nowadays rather see the universe as 50 shades of evil. Dreamworld doesn't exist. Sorry...

Will I track again ? Hmm... maybe. Maybe will there be a "surprise" one of those days... expect April to come at any time of the year ;-)

Best regards,
Philippe "TNK" Meisburger.
