This song is my peace compo 2000 entry - wish me good luck in da compo !
The peace compo on TiS is something special every year (I assume it will
not be the last of it's kind!) - It's an occasion for use musician to
write scores for a better world. Of course, a few tracks released will not
stop wars, torture and anger, but atleast it shows the idea of peace is
alive in our artist's minds.
Last year, I entered the compo with my dreamflower song - as I thought
universal peace was just a dream - but this year I enter with a much more
optimitic message - the message of peace after the fooliness of war.
I decided to call this song 'Micronesia' for various reasons.
- First, Micronesia is a place that always made me dream of. It's those
small coral islands located east of the Filipino islands, and what would
be a nicer dream than peace ?
- Then I thought of Micronesia's recent past : the 2nd world war in the
pacific ocean. I really can't imagine those terrible battles taking place
in those heavenly islands. Micronesia was also used by americans for
their first hydrogen-bomb tests.
- Finally I thought of what Micronesia is today : A free land made up of
many islands scattered over an area as large as Europe. A peaceful land on
the ocean, the place where the small republic of Palau is, the first land
that has written the protection of the coral reef in the basis of their
constitution (According to what Nicolas Hulot said on TV).
For all those reasons - a heavenly place that went from war to heavenly
peace - I decided to take you, peace friends, to Micronesia...not
physically, but in dreams, following the music...
Now some technical stuff...Like in almost all my ambient/newage tracks
released in the last year, this one uses realtime resonant filterings (Zxy
effect in IT). This means that to be able to replay this song correctly,
you have to own a compatible player. Modplug player 1.40 or higher does
allright (but be sure to have 300Mhz/64 channels mixing mode turned on or
you will have bad surprises). Impulse tracker 2.14 works also allright on
a SB/MMX system (Press shift-F5 to set up to MMX, filtered mode). GUS does
not work as it's hardware does not support realtime filtering in IT (but
it does in Modplug). As far as I know, there are *NO* linux nor macintosh
players playing those effects right (atleast not now - contact me if you
know one).
For all those who can't get (or can't get working) a player that can
handle this, I suggest you to download the MP3 version of this song on

OK now, enjoy the music and peace to all of U !
