Hehehe...Nile-influenced :) Obviously :)
I changed my guitar sound (again) for this one, so there is a lot more
bass in the sound. This means that you may have to turn the mixing volume
down a little bit to avoid getting distortion of those palm mutes and long
power chords. I changed the reverb to have a "room" effect, but with more
of it as well. I also recorded all of these guitar samples with no
D-string :) So if you are trying to understand how I did those parts with
the tremelo picking of two notes an octave apart, I just tremelo picked a
power chord :)
I experimented mixing different types of vocal together here as well; the
intro has some really deep death vox mixed with some mid range death vox
and a sort of higher black vocal style that sounds a lot like some of the
chanting voices on Nile's "Black Seeds Of Vengeance" album, like at the
start of track 10 "To Dream Of Ur". And the outro chanting has the same,
but doubled on left and right channels, so there are 6 vocal lines at the
end :) Some of the vox are out of time with each other as well, but I
don't care. It sounds good enough for me :)
BTW: that shitty static in the vocals comes from overusing Cool Edit's
compressor. I got the settings wrong, batch processed them, and therefore
couldn't undo it. And I can't be bothered re-recording them all...
Lyrics at the bottom as usual...

Explanation:
------------
Apophis was the Egyptian god of chaos and evil - he was the enemy of Ra
(the Sun God - Ancient Egypt's main god), so I guess that this kinda makes
him like Satan :) Anyway, he was depicted as a serpent (snake), similar to
Set and Anhur (also violent gods, but on Ra's side - Set actually helps to
fight off Apophis when he attacks Ra). Other ancient characters mentioned
in this are Baboui, a dog-faced ape who feeds on the bodies of the enemies
of Osiris (the god of the underworld), raping and devouring the souls of
the damned, Ammit who is the Eater Of The Dead, and Khetti who is a huge
serpent dedicated to breathing fire into the faces of the damned. These
lyrics are a sort of spell to invoke Apophis out of the underworld
(or the "Duat") and into one's body (and so onto the earth where he can
travel to the heavens to wreak havoc), thereby merging with him.
Presumably it would be recited by one of the priests of his cult or
someone intending to bring an end to Ra's rule...

Rise, Apophis
Ascend from the Duat
I lay for thee this offering
Of fresh virgin's blood
Of Baboui and of Ammit I have no fear
For Khetti and of Anhur I care not
When the time cometh for thee to reign
I will blaspheme Set and his minions
[Chorus:]
Apophis my lord, symbol of evilness
I beg thee to rise and challenge Ra again
I am thine follower, thine ally
Thou shalt conquer Ra and chaos shalt rule
I would rape and profane in the name of thee, my lord
The eye of Ra doth not see me and so I shall survive
Thy chaos shall bring war in the heavens
My chaos shall bring war on the land
[chorus]
Demon of chaos...
[chorus]
I give my self to thee...
Blind the eye, raise the dead
Blind the eye, raise the dead
