A Ryoga Episode

This is a medley of songs from the Ranma 1/2 anime, in particular
the songs most often associated with the character Ryoga Hibiki.

The first song is one of the two "Ryoga's Themes," it is usually
played during one of Ryoga's internal monologues, particularly
those where he's mentally chastising himself for being able to
get anywhere with Akane Tendo, the show's principal love interest.
There is another version of this song in the show which I did not
track because I couldn't figure out how to put it in without
sounding redundant.

"Where on Earth am I now???!!....." -Ryoga Hibiki
(Ryoga has the absolute most worst sense of direction ever,
 often he gets lost even inside a house, trying to find the
 front door).

The second song is the more commonly known "Ryoga's Theme,"
AKA Ryoga's Travelling Theme.  This is the song played
usually when Ryoga has decided on a course of action or
is travelling (usually extremely lost).

"Bakusai Tenketsu!!...(KABOOM) Oof!" -Ryoga Hibiki
Bakusai Tenketsu (pronounced Box-sai-ten-kets), roughly
translated as "Breaking Point," is one of Ryoga's
signature fighting moves.  By seeing with his mind
instead of his eyes, Ryoga can detect a point on an
object where he need only touch it with one finger to
cause it to shatter explosively and violently.  The
technique doesn't work on living things, fortunately,
but the force of the explosion is very strong, hence
the "oof", since Ryoga is always caught in the dead
center of the blast.  But in training to learn this
attack, Ryoga was smashed with rocks so often that it
had the side effect of increasing his constitution
and pain threshold to incredible heights, making him
not only able to withstand the explosion of the
Bakusai Tenketsu, but also makes all but the strongest
punches and kicks barely even effect him.

The third song is "Ranma VS. Ryoga," the theme most
commonly played when these two characters are
fighting, and they fight a lot.  Ryoga is hell-bent
on defeating Ranma Saotome in a one-on-one fight,
because Ranma used to pick on him in Junior High and
is largely responsible for the terrible Jusenkyo
Curse that Ryoga suffers.  Additionally, he believes
that defeating Ranma will help him win the love of
Akane.  Unlike some of Ranma's other rivals, however,
Ryoga has a very strong moral compass, and does not
try to cheat or trick Ranma to beat him, and always
insists on fair 1 on 1 declared "challenge" fights.
In fact, to such a degree that during a story arc
where Ranma was drained of all his strength, Ryoga
protected Ranma from all his other rivals who
sought to finish him off.  During another story arc,
Ryoga was granted such incredible strength that
he could beat Ranma with 1 hand even with his eyes
closed, but because it was not his OWN strength he
fought with, Ryoga decided it wouldn't "count" to
beat Ranma that way, and got Ranma to help him
figure out how to change back to normal.

"If it isn't P-Chan!" - Akane Tendo
"Oh, hello, Mr. P..." - Ranma Saotome
"Skweeeeeaaalll..."  - P-Chan, aka, Ryoga Hibiki

The Fourth Song is called "Piggy Wiggy," which is
the theme often played while P-Chan and Ranma
are... shall we say, "horsing around."  Ryoga's
dark secret is that he is cursed to turn into a
tiny black piglet whenever he is splashed with
cold water, and only being splashed with hot
water can turn him human again.  Ranma knows
of Ryoga's curse, but Akane does not.  Akane
adopted the little black pig (not knowing it was)
Ryoga in his cursed form, naming it "P-Chan, P as
in Pig, Chan as in small and cute!"  Ranma keeps
Ryoga's secret because Ryoga's morality and honor
makes Ranma actually like him, and he considers
Ryoga the closest thing he has to a friend,
despite their rivalry over Akane and the fact
that they are always fighting.  However, often
Ranma becomes insanely jealous of "P-Chan"
because the unwitting Akane so dotes on the pig,
even to the point of having it sleep with her in
bed at night!  Ryoga, of course, is absolutely
terrified at what would happen if Akane ever
found out that he is also P-Chan...

"P-Chan!....Ryoga?" Akane Tendo

The last song is not in the show, it is my own
interpretative combination of the first 3 songs
(the Piggy Wiggy song wouldn't really mesh).
The implied sound clips along with the "urgent"
sound of this last song would indicate Ryoga's
state of mind if Akane WAS ever to learn his
secret...

Well, of course it was.  One of the enduring
plot devices of the show is the extraordinary
and funny ways that Ryoga (usually with Ranma's
help) manages to keep Akane from learning about
his cursed connection with P-Chan.

Akane will never figure it out ;)
