Little Jimmy was sat in bed. It was midnight again. His eyes were shut
tight, tears rolling down his cheeks.

He was hitting her again. He always hit her, every night, and she never
did anything. Why didn't mummy ever do anything?

Suddenly... silence. Oh no. Not so soon...

He caught the sound of footsteps up the stairs, despite the thundering of
his own pulse beating an eerie rhythm in his head. The footsteps grew
louder...

*THUD*

The bedroom door flew open. He stormed in.

He wasn't done beating up yet.

Jimmy knew it was pointless pleading. Nonetheless, he begged his drunken
father not to hit him tonight. He was convulsing with fear.

*THUMP*

Oh god, please let it stop... please don't let him hit me again...
please...

His ears were ringing, so heavy were the blows. And then...
