   Dark Worlds: Part 1
----The Seven Portals----

Moving through the dank blackness of the ancient passageway,
you stumble and trip on various obstacles on the floor hidden
by the darkness. You feel your way around a corner to which
you can feel the temperature rise a little. You demise that
you are near the end of the passageway. You motion yourself
towards the light shining down on you at the end of the passge.
As you reach it, you squint and rub your eyes as is because you
have been in that passage for some hours. When your eyesight
adjusts to the new light level, you gaze upon the great
courtyard that stretches large and wide before you. Stepping
out of the passage, you look around to notice that all is quiet
of life. That no one else is around. No man nor animal. Looking
up at the sky you sense that something is different. The sky
is an errie shade of red and you can see strange objects flying
high above you. You surmise that you are no longer in your world,
For the creatures flocking overhead are not of earth. Looking
behind you, you notice that there is no longer a passageway.
you are trapped in an unknown world. You step further forwards to
investigate the courtyard. Moving through the maze of numerous
statues of strange creatures never before seen to you, you meet with
a tower that looms high in the center of the courtyard.
Atop is the statue reminicant of some strange beast.
Judgeing by the decorations and markings, you demise that this is
the lord of this realm. There are also 7 markings liken to arrows
on the huge monolith. They point in the direction of 7 large bronze
gateways around the courtyard.

7 doors to 7 portals. 1 of which is the only way home.

Seeing no other way out of there, you proceed towards the closest of
the gateways. After you open it, you see beyond an abcess in the
rock wall surrounded by a golden border with small gargoyle shaped
creatures engraved on it. It is large enough to walk through, though
it appears to be still, as you move closer it begins to vibrate, and
emit a soft humming noise. Non hesitantly, you plunge through the
portal unaware of what might lay beyond. You know that one of these
gateways leads home. And you are determined to find it.

You emerge from the gateway in a large heap. after recomposing
yourself, you stand and look around. To your left and right, nothing
but steep clifface. To your behind, a cliff. To your front, a canyonway.
The air is dry and hot. The sky is a deep  orange colour with dark grey
clouds. A light wind sweeps past you from the east. Wiping the sweat from
your brow, you take the 1st steps towards your way home...

The Story begins.


'***This is the 1st in a series of Ambient adventure stories.
I've been thinking of writing a series like this ever since I heard
the stories and music of David Arkenstone. Which in my all time favourite
Synth artist.
