FORTH FROM THE BOWELS
=======================

Some of you have noticed my recent improvement, mainly in the three
tracks (Condemned, Gates To The Netherworld, and A Living Nightmare) that
I have labelled to myself as my 'transition' period from being obsessed
with filesize to my new state: being obsessed with fucking amazing
songwriting.
I have my vocalist Barney to thank for the stuff I write from here on,
because up until now, my approach to writing songs was "record a riff, and
if it isn't too crap, use it", whereas now I am starting to do "figure out
a riff. If it is shit, don't use it. Make songs from only GOOD riffs that
flow into one another well". This has really come from writing songs for
my band without the aid of Impulse Tracker, and I'm grateful for it.
This song is like a "best of" of various huge riff recording sessions that
I did. I ditched all the crap ones, and just left the creme de la creme,
which I then adapted a bit so that they fit together. It kinda turned out
a bit more melodic than my usual stuff, but I still like it. It has it's
brutal moments. It's really a kinda deathrash thing IMO...lots of ATG, the
Haunted etc. riffs in there - in fact, it even reminds me of some of my
older stuff...the old "Born In A Cell" era springs to mind...hehe, and it
has my first real monologue in it :)
I also now have a new guitar sound for this song due to my new RockTek EQ
pedal. Well worth the bargain .35 I paid for it. I'm still using the
distortion from my Korg pedal, but it now just goes like:
Guitar => Korg AX100G => RockTek EQ Pedal => Park G10 amp => Mic
I don't need to EQ it in Cool Edit any more, and I love this sound because
it's professional, yet it's still brutal. In the three transition songs, I
made the mistake of usnig FAR too much bass in both the vocals and the
guitars, where here I have it just about right with the bass supplying
that rumble. Which means that you'll notice I've EQ'd the bass a bit :)
And also the drums to add the high end that is missing due to some of the
recording. i hope your system can deal with the bas coz' it is *VERY* low,
and I guess if you have shitty PC speakers you might not be able to hear
it...I have a reasonably good hi-fi with some good speakers, so it sounds
good to me :) Use headphones if in doubt.
I'm happy with the end result of this, case closed. And please, do NOT
talk about the drums on this being unrealistic - I spent a LONG time
(about 2 hours) going through the drums with a fine-toothed comb ironing
out all the bits that sound tracked and making them more realistic
(usually I'm basing most of the fills etc on what the drummer in my band
would play, and I even EQ'd the snare to sound like his does).
All guitarz & vocals, by me
Bass by Stygian, EQ'd by me
Drums by various people, all except the Kick EQ'd by me.
Thanx/Greetz:

LYRICS:
=======
Forth from the bowels
Of unintentional
Demonic depths
To rise again
A resurrected
New messiah
A warrior born of need
For a better day
[Chorus:]
A saviour
In the mist
Dark and foreboding
Vendettas raised again
Once more a hero must ascend
To force our captors to defend
A failed beuracracy
Which we did not see
The time has come to rebel
"What I see before me does not resemble what was once and should still be.
If this is what my world has become, then it is obvious now that something
has to be done."
Yahhh...
[solos]
Forth from the bowels
A charge underway
Overwhelming odds
A capital under seige
A new revolution
The dawn of democracy
Led by a stanger now returned
[chorus]
