Hey there, folks! Now, I (Probably) know that you're thinking right now
that this song starts off more than a little similar to a certain
Portishead track. And to tell the blatant truth, you're totally right.
I mean, don't they always say that imitation is the highest form of a
compliment? Yeah, I thought so, too! So I heard 'that' song and thought
"Hey, that's cool". That cool analogue moog sound is just so dreamy, and
I had to figure out a way to imitate it using Impulse Tracker, which was
actually deceptively easy. I just gone to the volume envelope section
(Via pressing F4 - check it out!) and prodded about with it until I had
it sounding how I wanted it to sound, and I think it really works rather
well, don't you? Oh, and by far the most elaborate (Call it cheaty if
you want) thing in this song is the juke-box sound effect at the
beginning. It's not a juke box at all! It's a cunningly constructed
collision of cool sounds I found on a sample CD. The first part is, if
you listen carefully, an old-fashioned phone dial; the second part is
a pair of handcuffs (US Style) being fastened - minus the ratchet sound!
It works, too! But the dusty record sound was really hard to find, I
eventually found it, though, after ten thousand web sites and stuff.
Anyways if you like this song, or want me to assist in the make-age of
any tunes, I'd be more than happy to help. Gimmie an e-mail - my addy is
at the bottom of this text! See yas!
