                       Contrapunctus II: Chorale in a



         An organ chorale is a two voice inventio based on a chorale

        melody. First the thematic material of the inventio is

        presented as an independant introduction with soprano and

        first bass.

         Second bass is brought in, playing the melody of the original

        chorale. Using that as a basis for harmony, soprano and first

        bass develop the thematic material presented in the introduction.

         Interludes are inserted between phrases of the second bass.

        250 years have passed since the master of counterpoint
        passed away. To celebrate his legacy and promote polyphonic
        music whose pinnacle his works represent, I shall write
        a series of contrapuntal pieces in tribute to him.
