Rebirth RB-338 vs. Roland TB-303
--------------------------------

Hell! A real 303 is fuckin' great! It was one week ago, I went to my
friend who's also a music freak like me. (But he's a pro!) I came into
his room (the modified kitchen which he calls a "STUDIO" :) and I
couldn't believe it: There was a REAL Roland TB-303!!! I first asked him
where he stole it, but he told me that it was borrowed by a producer he
knows. I played a bit around with it, but strangely, it sounded MUCH
better like Rebirth, I don't know why. (Btw, my friend has also lots of
music equipment, look below). We took the 303 and routed it trough a few
effect units (echo and distortion). We tried to do the same with rebirth,
but see yourself (play instrument 6 for the real 303 and instrument 21 for
the fake rebirth 303). In the real 303 there are some static noises (which
are from the real 303) but in the song itself you can't hear them. BUT!
A real 303 costs about $1000, and two of them plus a 808 costs about
$2700 together! And you can get Rebirth RB338 for only $169 (with 2x 303
and 1x 808). If you put the delay effect to Rebirth by hand, it's worth to
buy. And the 808 machine sounds *very* good (like the original). However,
real equipment is always more fun than virtual :)

Tracking
--------

This is by far the biggest song I've been working on; it has LOTZ of
patterns (103, maybe I added some for the final version and I was too
lazy to rewrite this part :)

It hasn't many big samples, only the 8 303 sounds, a string, and the false
303 machine (which isn't used in the song).

It took about 4 hours to track and arrange the stuff until it sounded
good.

I took almost every sample from Carstens synthesizers, because I couldn't
use my Prophecy this time (it sounded too clean).

One sample (the great string) was taken from a sample archive in the web
(I used in the song 11PM before).

If you've looked at Carsten's equipment already, you surely ask why I
haven't used Cubase with all synths connected??? Simple. I HATE CUBASE, I
HATE MIDI. hehe. If MIDI would be a bit more powerful and a MIDI tracker
would exist, I *might* use MIDI. But no, tracking is much more fun.
