my skull covering the floor
like a tarp;
the shards of bone floating
in a pool of hellish stew
like beacons of purity in a sea of evil.
my hands give my eyes companionship,
both watching from above.
my arm is recognisable
only from its silhouette cast by the lovechild of fire and poison
and wed by the axe that guards my left leg from its partner.
when the axe fell,
when the time came,
why did the blade greet the echoes of my pain and screaming
within my head?
where was my God?
