This is either the coolest thing I've made or
"A Real Behemoth of a Problem" (the title) to find the time
to even listen to this...
Bravo to anyone who likes it, apologies to anyone who doesn't. Music
is a two edged sword when you invest the time to listen to something
this long. It might be worthwhile or you might wish you had spent
the time you were listening doing something else, like writing an
angry email to modtomit@gmail.com.
So releasing a track like this is another "Behemoth of a Problem"...on one
hand I'm proud of it and I feel its one of my most interesting tracks,
if not the best one I've made period, and on the other...wow, it takes
a lot of peoples' time to listen to this...they better like it, but
some people might not like some of the odd choices of melody and
harmony and large intervalic leaps and general chaotic and sometimes
dissonant sound...so be warned! I don't want to steal your time, so if
you like more immediately pleasing music that just makes you feel good,
that is an excellent approach to music and I will not look down on you
for that approach, we need a lot of feel-good vibes to soothe our
souls in these times, to relax, escape into a better world in the music,
but if you're looking for music that might express some inner and outer
conflicts, that knows the rules and often breaks them to show the
beauty of the challenges in resolving (or just existing with) chaos
and dissonance within and in daily life in the information age, with
expressions of fear, love, hope, power, pain, and beauty co-existing
and competing for space in the composers' mind while he made an IT file
with three square waves brought to the fullest expressiveness he could
muster....then this might be up your alley.
