This is the first song that I've decided to release publicly.
I'm not part of the "tracker scene", which seems to be an environment with
very definite and not immediately discernible rules of etiquette. So, for what
it's worth, none of the samples in this tune are mine. I've swiped them from all
over the place. Those that were traceable to a specific individual or entity
are duly credited. My apologies for the uncredited ones.
--------------------------------------------------------
I love to read the comments to the tunes I download. The more info, the better.
So I'm including a few things here for those who like that sort of stuff.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
About the tune: it's smooth synth ambient nonsense with a nice little ostinato
throughout. I'm not unhappy with a couple of the chord changes. Plus, it
incorporates a bit of the very first melody I came up with, which my wife loves.
I usually do my own beats, but I discovered that slowing down a drum loop gives
a cool whoosh sound to the rythm track, so I tried that here. I got that trick
off a fantastic track by Acumen called Serenity of Silence. Brilliant brilliant
song. Go download it right now, it's better than anything I'll ever do.
All the sound effects everywhere make the whole thing a little cheesier than I
first envisioned (it's all very Pink Floyd, and there's a bunch who are not
aging gracefully)... but I put them all in there because a colleague of mine
really likes that crap. I do realize that some of the harmonies are pretty
wonky, but I know they are, and I know why, and I like them like that. And I
just realized that the reason the tune is so huge is because of this one
cymbal sample: the damn thing is more than 1.2 MB! And I only use it twice!
But darn it, I can't take it out, it sounds great. Perhaps there's a way of
making it smaller without affecting the quality too much, but I'm clueless.

About me: I live in Montreal, Canada. First language is French. 33, married,
2 kids. I started tracking about 6 months ago. I love doing music this way,
but I'm told it's a hell of a lot more work than using standard studio software.
So I'm saving to upgrade my equipment.
Still, I would miss the Excel-style interface, so who knows, maybe I'll just
keep using this method. I input everything by hand: I don't have a keyboard and
couldn't play it worth crap if I had (I played the French horn - reasonably
well - 15 years ago).
It is a very cerebral way of making music, and I find it delightful
that my music theory knowledge has not vanished over time, and is finally put to
limited use.
My nom de plume comes from my love of popular fiction from the 30s, often called
"pulp fiction". Lamont Cranston is one of the identities of the Shadow, the
greatest of all pulp heroes.

liebe dich.

Back to English (your eyes can stop glazing over now).
I'm not half as pompous as this message may lead you to believe. Well, maybe
half. Oh well.
