God,
will i ever find peace,                      my mind cries out to you
sweet rest in Your arms?                     with no aid from my heart
dear God have mercy,                         all but destroyed
i'm not worth the time.                      i'm falling apart.
unworthy of love, and with
nowhere to turn, where can
i go?  certainly hell.  for
my actions deserve no less.
Jesus did die for me, and yet
after having deliberately sinned                             fallen have i
knowing better; how can i                             it's now come my way
possibly accept Your forgiveness?                       did i honestly try
was i posessed?  certainly not,                         i have gone astray
aware of my actions, i must conclude
that it was of my own will to                                what did i do
indulge in sin.  and as satan laughed             with the life lent to me
i signed my own death penalty.                          apart from destroy
please God, in your eternal patience,              what was given for free
love, understanding and mercy, i beg
of You to take full control of this                    You offered me love
wretched life.  this torn canvas,                    in return i gave pain
please mend it father.  what more                         and for what end
can i say?  how can i go on with                        an instant of gain
the knowledge of my actions still
fresh in my mind.  i still can't believe                  this evil within
that while looking in your eyes i turned on               help me to fight
you.  my how the mighty have fallen.  i guess              i must overcome
i ain't so 'holy' after all.  and after venting        as a child of light
this fit of frustration, i can add it to the hundreds
of times in the past.  which is what prevents me from
allowing myself to accept forgiveness.  God in all your
eternal presence, if there is a merciful action for this
sinner who's scared, confused, and lost.  then please
grant it.                     in Jesus' name. . . Amen
