I'm the kind of person who tends to scoff at things like "Love
song dedications" on radio stations, and yet I always seem to go into big
D&M rambles in small things such as song messages. After a little while,
I think I figured out why I do this.
I want myself to be _heard_. (And yes, I'm just as selfish as you
are, so you damn well listen to me!) ;-).
And I'd like to start off by saying this.
As we go through life, we grow and mature, and hopefully each day
we'll be a little bit wiser than a previous one. It's an old saying that
the only thing that never changes is change itself; some changes will be
as small as knowing one more useless piece of trivia, and yet others will
shatter boundaries and make yourself rethink about who you are.
In the change that has been my entire life, there have been many
people who have guided me through the most trying times. Friends, even
best of friends, can come and go, but the following people have always
amazed me with their strength, courage, faithfulness and ideals, and they
have always been there for me. *Always*.
My parents, Henry & Virginia
My brother Jason
My virtual sister, Linda Lokhee
Benjamin Leung
Andrew Justin Chia
Stephen Fischer
Nick Bender
David Chadwick
Yannis J. Brown
Jeffrey and Zoe Lim
Tracy Goh
If you know any of these guys, feel proud. They're among the best
humans to walk on the planet.
Now, the trivia for you dorks out there ;-). The patterndata is
completely original (as you'd hope). Most of the samples are mine;
the ones which aren't have been indicated.
I used Sound Forge 4.0 to do the majority of my sample editing,
and the module creation was done using IT 2.15 on a Gravis UltraSound PnP.
I think the guitars are a little bit wasted in this; they're fantastic
samples, but unfortunately (or fortunately, as it may be; most people seem
to loathe my cheesy guitar riffs) you don't hear much of them. Oh well,
somebody else rip them and make better use of 'em! :). I have many
musical influences, but in particular, I'd like to publicly thank Andrew
Fort, Mick Rippon and Yannis Brown for their musical guidance over the
years, as well as Jeffrey Lim (again) for the phenomenal Impulse Tracker,
without which I would never have had this creativity unleashed.
Of course, I can't escape the normal greetings factor, so, apart
from the people already mentioned (you guys just rock), I'd like to send
special greetings to the Australian musicscene & demoscene, all the
awesome folks at Emergent Software, all the really cool people I met on my
'97 world trip (you guys know who you are!), and of course all my other
friends. If in doubt, you've been greeted :D.
This will probably end up being the last mod I'm releasing to the
scene (yeah right). I wasn't actually going to release it initially, but
it grew into a track too important for me not to keep under wraps. It's
been worked on for several months, and (unusual for me), it wasn't
inspired by a loose combination of riffs in my head, nor was it derived
from ideas in other songs. This leads me on to the last thing I want to
say ...

This entire song would not exist without the inspiration Purdey
Collier has given me. The way the song flows is exactly the way I wrote
it, and I almost always worked on it when I was at emotional extremes, or
after seeing her or talking to her. This piece is hers as much as it is
mine (yeah! So send any flame-mail to her too! :), and I can't think of a
anybody more special to me to dedicate this tune to. Purdey, this is for
you; it's been inspired by you, it has been written for you from the very
beginning, and may you find inspiration, salvation, comfort, hope, and
maybe even some happiness in this song :). *hug* I love you! xxxxx
(recursive) ;)
All my love,
Andre.

Anyway, thanks for reading this, and I hope you like the song. If
you do like it, please e-mail me; you would not believe how much musicians
appreciate an e-mail from time to time :).
