I recently got my hands on a Korg Legacy license, which  includes  fantastic
plugin versions of the legendary Korg M1 and Korg Wavestation -  this  makes
a nice (partly virtual) 80s/90s rig together with my Roland D-50. :)
Anyway, the first thing to do was of course to explore the  huge  instrument
libraries of these  plugins.   The  first  few  preset  instruments  of  the
Wavestation plugin didn't strike me at all,  but  then  I  came  across  the
"Firedance" preset and it instantly captivated me.  So  much  magic  in  one
instument. Magical rhythms mixed with pads and other stuff. So  amazing  and
fascinating. I just *needed* to make a tune with this  sound!  The  ones  of
you who owned a Wavestation will probably instantly  recognize  this  sound.
I didn't even try to hide it, instead I just plastered  it  over  the  whole
intro sequence. And I decided to make a whole tune about it.   So  the  tune
is named "Firedance" as well. Very appropriate, eh?

All in all, this tune sounds very Enigma-ish (think  Sadeness).   I  thought
that some gegorian monk samples could have fit, but  in  the  end  I  didn't
find any samples that I liked so I left them out  (maybe  it's  better  that
way).

Since I used so many instruments from the Wavestation and M1 plugins,  I  am
afraid that it was not feasible  to  render  them  to  samples.   Usually  I
release my tunes in a way so that they only require freeware plugins  to  be
played (if any), but this time it was just not possible. If you  don't  have
the Korg Legacy plugins, you  will  have  to  listen  to  the  OGG  version,
sorry. On the other hand, there is no reason *not*  to  get  those  plugins,
because they are totally awesome. :)

Originally this tune was meant to be released at Evoke 2012.   However,   it
did not pass pre-selection, so I kept improving it a bit for  Outline  2012.
And there it ranked 3rd in the combined music compo. Not bad,   not  bad  at
all! Also, this was  my  very  first  Outline  party,   and  it  was  really
awesome. A small and cozy party (smaller than usual because  of  the  change
of date and MAiN happening at the  same  time)  where  I  met  new  and  old
friends. All in all, it couldn't have been  much  better.   Except  for  the
weather, maybe. Oh, and did you know that  the  prizegiving  was  at  11:30?
(sorry, but that's an inside joke :P).
