[ He's ba-a-a-ack... ]
Prologue
~~~~~~~~
Hmm. It's been a while, hasn't it? =) My placement didn't entirely keep me
away from the scene, but enough to probably lose my place. Everyone's
probably forgotten about me by now. *sob*
The Tune
~~~~~~~~
I dunno what to call this piece except "spooky". It's a kinda weird fusion
of rock and electronic.
Hmm. Is there a genre such as "electro-rock"? =)
And when you look at this tune, I bet you find it impossible to believe
that I wasn't even trying to keep it within:
- 4 minutes
- 32 channels
- 1024k
I've surprised myself here. It's amazing what you can do when you just say
"screw it" and try to have some fun. :)
Catching Up
~~~~~~~~~~~
So what's happened since I last released a tune?
- DemoNews ceased to be. *gasp*
- Necr.s released a musicdisk. (About time, Andy. ;) )
- not much else. Hmm.
Wow, my absence really made a dent, didn't it? :P
The Greets
~~~~~~~~~~
Greets fly out to everyone in Kosmic, Process Five and Twain, and
particularly special greets go to all the cool people I met at The
Gathering, especially...
- Snowman, Phoenix and Diablo. Seeing you guys again ruled - brought
back all the cool memories of NAID96. I've said it before and I'll
say it again; the scene needs a demoparty on the east coast of the
USA. :)
- Mind Bender. Here was I expecting to be more or less guided around
by you, when in fact it was like only your second demoparty ever,
or something. I guess we both kinda helped each other out for the
first few days, huh Tom? =)
- Slash of Union, and Dreamer of Sublogic, for lending me their PCs
for a while to sort out the finishing touches to my entry.
Remember folks, it ain't a real party entry unless it was finished
AT THE PARTY. ;)
- The organisers. An excellent job done by a team that gives a damn
about how the party goes. The schedule allowed for the inevitable
network faults (look, YOU try building a network for about 4000
different machines! :) ), rest periods for the competitors and
voters, and the coolest party venue ever - the Olynpic Stadium in
Hamar. (I guess that's as close as we'll ever get to having
tracking as an Olympic sport, huh? ;) )
- Darkness, Blade Runner and all the judges. They were ready to
answer questions, they slogged away at the jury procedure
(especially Snowman, hacking away at his Linux box trying to mount
a networked NT partition - and by god, he did it =) ), and when I
enquired about the player they would use for .IT mods, they not
only reassured me they'd use Impulse Tracker itself, but even
suggested I send them the latest version along with my tune to put
me at ease.
YOU GUYS ALL ROCK. =)
The Strange Thoughtful Ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Does this tune sound kinda disturbing?
I only ask cos I feel kinda disturbed these days. :I I hear this tune
played back and it feels for all the world like an auditory depiction of
my slow but unpreventable slide into insanity.
Epilogue
~~~~~~~~
Maybe this is where my music starts to get a little better...?

PS Check out the cute little cover of a familiar ditty on pattern 32. ;)
