Kansas Nights ~ first revision
I am writing a story in which a person who is
about 7 inches tall is stranded in Topeka, the
capitol of Kansas. Hence a title. I've been up
a lot at night, too. All night, sometimes.
This little number took me a little over 24
hours from start to finish, originally.

-- work continued Apr. '04, off and on. I'm
trying to keep the essential nature of the
piece but add a touch of variety. Some People
think the beat gets boooooooring. :p
What I'm really looking at here is the "high,
lonesome sound" of trains passing in the
night, time passing with them, and a heaviness
of the heart.
I don't know what you're looking at. ;-)

==========================================
The sun sinks in the far lands of the west,
and I should be glad that darkness covers me.
No one observes, the city lies at rest;
but it is the dawn that my heart longs to see.
I would rather perish in the burning sun,
discovered by my mortal enemy,
than live forever safe, and love no one.
Life has no meaning now, apart from thee.
I hear the lonely wail of passing trains,
and wish that one of them would carry me.
But I am pinned, confined here in my pain,
and only passing time will set me free.
