The Path Taken. We all choose the paths we take. Some paths will
lead you to success, some to ruin, and some will only lead you in
circles... some even belong in your autoexec.bat. :) The path that has
taken me to NAID was not an easy one, and whether or not it will lead me
to victory is still a question. However, that question, is not important
to me, at least, not compared to the questions of who I will meet, what
kind of great music will I hear, and what great times will I have. :)
This song is my latest attempt at writing a song that will make
-any- audience feel better after hearing it. I call it, approprately, a
feel-good song. It qualifies as this, technically, due to an uplifting
transition from a minor scale to a major one, a solid beat, good sample
quality, and a few other technicalities... The main reason is that it
makes ya nod yer head, and maybe even smile a bit. :D.
I wrote this song after listening to four abolutely -incredible-
songs by WAVE, which jtown sent to me. I observed there his style of
using huge patterns at high speeds, and the wonderful orchestration of his
samples that just flowed like a pristine river out of my speakers. After
that enlightening experience, I set my personal standards higher and sat
down to track this. Using the IT format I was able to use 128 row
patterns at a speed of 3, which was intensely liberating to me. Also, the
NNA fadeouts made certain samples flow much more smoothly than any S3M
ever could, such as the spacey chorus fifth chords and the violins.
My heartfelt thanks to Pulse for coding the best tracker ever to
hit the scene. I encourage all MOD player coders to support the .IT
format as soon as possible, so we can all set a new standard for song
quality in the scene.
Super Greetz go to the NAID organizers. You guys have invested
countless hours in the compo that the North American scene is beginning to
revolve around, I can't thank you enough.
Group Greetz to Mystique. We will dominate at NAID '97. :)
Special Greetz out to the people who have invested the time in
-me-. Benzel, C_ray_C, Kal Zakath, Fred, Plague, Leviathan and Mick
Rippon. Your personal and detailed reviews of my songs have brought the
quality of my music to where it is now.
Lastly, I send my love to Pamela who is on vacation to New York
and who I miss dearly. I hope that I can bring your love with me to NAID
'97 and ever other one after that.
