Title: The Doom Castle
Author: Peter Kasting (Zero|DPX)
        pkasting@ghs.com

In college a friend played some MIDI files of Final Fantasy music for me,
including the music from the "Doom Castle" level of Final Fantasy: Mystic
Quest (I game which I'd never played, and still haven't). I was stunned
and thought it was incredibly great stuff, so I immediately printed out
the first several dozen bars of the MIDI file and transcribed everything
into Scream Tracker (what I was using back then). After rewriting the
percussion, I tacked on some ideas of my own, including the quiet
transition section.

My friend still complains that I left out a theme in the song he really
likes, but he still likes it, and so do I. This song is less
sophisticated and polished then some of my later work, but it was written
in an incredibly short time with furious energy, and other than a
translation from .st3 to .it format and a reworking of the drum solo (it
still sucks, but not as much), it's held up quite well.

I would love to hear this played live.
