---------------------------------------- ### Fee Fi Fo Fum (Heavenly Mix) ### ---------------------------------------- Running time: 5 minutes, 46 seconds. Started at 22/6/96, 6:00am First edit completed 29/6/96, 11:17am Final edit completed 8/7/96, 2:00am Final final edit completed 8/7/96, 1:55pm Based on "Fee Fo Fo Fum", by Candy Girls. An Aftermath release. ------------ # Preamble # ------------ Well, this track was originally done as a birthday present for a good friend of mine. I actually did finish it on time for her birthday, but I heard the first edit I did a day later and it sucked so immensely I deleted the tune and started all over again. So, here's the result of my second attempt at a remix. ------------------ # About the song # ------------------ I didn't actually like the original song all that much, but it had a nice riff in it which I used quite extensively in this mix. However, this still doesn't sound >anything< like the original Fee Fi Fo Fum tune at all; in fact, apart from that one riff, it bears no resemblance to it whatsoever. This doesn't even have the "fee fi fo fum" vocal in there anywhere, even. Still, I much prefer my version (as you would) :). As you can see, I was NOT concerned about file size nor channel limits nor any other tracker restrictions when I wrote this. I wanted something which sounded like it was coming out of a CD player rather than "just a PC". Impulse Tracker's support for 16-bit samples, samples over 256k, NNA's and envelopes (etc) can really bring out high quality tunes if you set your mind to it. I make no apologies for making such a massive tune - if you don't like it, then sorry for wasting your time; but if you're simply complaining that "modules shouldn't be this big!", then don't come bitching to me. :) The tune was done on a Gravis UltraSound PnP with 8MB of RAM, using IT v2.03c's native InterWave support. ---------------------- # Sample Information # ---------------------- Samples with square brackets [] after them were sampled/torn to shreds by me, and samples with braces {} have been ripped from others. All samples were edited in Sound Forge, and some samples have had some real funky stuff done to them (bass removed via parametric eq, etc). Just give credit where credit is due. ---------- # Greets # ---------- Scene greets ... where do I begin? There are seriously so many people I would love to say hello to here, but since I really don't want to offend anybody by leaving their name out, greets to EVERYBODY who knows me! You all know who you are, and thanks to every single one of you. This module would probably not be possible if it weren't for all your efforts! I really appreciate all the help you've given me over the years with everything! Greets also to all of the Australian music & demoscenes, you guys all kick ass. It wouldn't be fitting not to say Hello to the person who gave me the idea for this person in the first place, so hello Jacqueline, and I hope you like your (belated) birthday present :). And of course, greets to all my close personal friends; Benjamin, Eleanor, Penny, Andrew, Steve, David, and all others I've forgotten. (It's been a long night, and I don't have any Strongbows left, hic). (Phew, I didn't actually double the size of this file with this little greetings section) :). --------------------- # Contact Addresses # --------------------- Any constructive criticism, praise (?!), requests for samples, idea swapping, etc., can be sent to one of the following: Internet: ozone@fl.net.au http://www.geko.net.au/~mindflux/ozone/ (very old..) irc: #trax (neato.org) Fidonet: Andre Pang@3:711/956 Bloodnet: Ozone@34:612/1 BBS: Mindflux +61-2-416-2513 (24hrs) (if the BBS is actually up, then consider yourself damn lucky). Snail mail: Andre Pang PO Box 494 Roseville 2069 NSW, Australia ------------- # Postamble # ------------- Well Jacqui, here you go. I've poured a fair bit of effort into it, and while I don't think it's the best tune I've ever done, I really think the effort I put into it paid off a little. Look out for some commercial releases by Aftermath soon on various singles and compilations; we're hoping to make it bigtime in the music industry out there. If you DO like the tune, PLEASE do me a favour and mail me! As all musicians know, there's nothing better than knowing that your song can make somebody else smile.. - #ozone/aftermath
