    . Info & history .

This song was my contribution for the multichannel music competition
held at Assembly`2000 during 3-6th of August. It finished on 7th place.
This version is slightly different from the Assembly`2000 multichannel
competition version, and from the official version released a couple
of days after the event. I`ve given the song more lenght with few
unused ideas I had, and to make it suit diskmagazine usage better,
I`ve reduced the quality of the samples in order to get the filesize
smaller, and also the use of Stereo samples is been removed to save
space. Few channel consuming echoes have been removed aswell, plus
I`ve shortened the use of active channels in order to make the song
less CPU consuming. Also the two stories beneath which were in the
previous versions in finnish language are now translated into english
as requested. This song is dedicated to my precious little doggie
called Peggy. For all the joy and memorable moments she has given
  me and my family.

. Stories to read while you listen .

Here are two true-life stories of dogs and their sensitive natures,
and how we humans come emotionally attached to these wonderful
creatures. The text is now translated to english language.
Read them while you`re listening to the song. You know what
they say: "A dog is a man`s best friend."

  . Story of Martha .

When our beloved Martha, a labradorian retriever, was buried, it was
a typical day in November, one you could imagine at worst weather.
Few of Martha`s closest friends among his family members were included
in the funeral procession. It had been decided amongst the closest
people that Martha`s ashes were to spread on the shores of, what we
called "Dog Paradise", Borderstrait. There the departed had spent the
most happiest days of her life, running free on the ice and swimming
in the summers. In these landscapes and sceneries we wanted to see her
running with our mind`s eye for forever.

The burial candle just barely lit in the shelter of a stone as
Martha`s urn was opened and her spirit continued its journey to
the heavens above with a breeze of wind. A bottle of sparkling
wine was opened, and for the last time glasses were clinked for
Martha`s memory. We are absolutely sure that even today Martha is
running free and full of enjoyment on the shores of Borderstrait.

. Everytime a pet departures, there are always certain feelings
of quilt and thoughts if some things could have been done better
related to the grief and mourning period. It`s the exact same
process you go through when a fellowmen close to you dies.

  . Story of Hugo .

Hugo was a Finnish Spitz look-alike (Suomen pystykorva) stray dog,
and that`s how he eventually got to us. We had come familiar to each
other at our acquaintances, where Hugo had come from unknown origin
after drifting through several violent homes. Hugo had been beaten
from his head, and he was extremely suspicious and sceptical. When
we were as guests at his last home, he was guarding us an inch apart
from our feet. If you moved your leg even one bit, he would get a
hysteric episode, and so would we. This kind of dog Hugo was when we
later on had to pick him up outside our acquaintances house, after
we had received a phone call from the airport saying: "Hugo is there
in a leash, if you don`t pick him up, he`ll starve to death or die of
  thirst."

So this is how we got together, Hugo and a young couple living by
themselves. Hugo`s new owners were young, and therefore willing to
love and suffer because of their love. Little by little they came
closer to each other, trust was gradually increased, and life became
stable. Hugo`s wounds were slowly healed, and the new owners learned
where they shouldn`t touch behind Hugo`s ear if they didn`t want a
bite mark on their thumb. Finally after all the painfull years of
wondering from one home to another, Hugo believed that his drifting
days are over. He had finally found his own place in this world,
atleast so he imagined. Sometimes you could see him smiling secretly
to himself while he was in this good faith. Until it had to happen,
faiths last devilish strike - Hugo`s lifes biggest catastrophe.

One day the lady of the house had vanished strangely for few days.
When she came back, she had a funny smelling bundle in her arms.
Struck by horror, Hugo did something unthinkable, which no one had
even dreamed of. Hugo rushed to his hostess and jumped straight to
her arms, and on top of the odd bundle. The bundle let out a terrible
noise, and so did the owners. After this incident Hugo`s life was all
downhill. He quickly grew old in front of their eyes. In just two
weeks his beard became grey, his eyes misty and blur, and he also
  lost his hearing.

Then on one morning he suprised his host. Hugo forced himself along
the buss door, and just wouldn`t leave no matter what. After a couple
buss stops, all of a sudden Hugo walked out of the buss - and that
was the last time they saw Hugo ever again.

. Later on, when the owners of Hugo had a conversation of him
with a veterinarian, he instantly stated "very familiar behavior".
Certainly a dog`s heart can break just as easily as human`s.
The veterinarian also knew stories about these man`s best
friends who in deep desperation had plunged into water in
    clear suicide intentions.

  . Closing words .

These two heartbraking true-life stories are good examples that a dog
really is a man`s best friend. I own a dog myself who`s very dear and
precious to me, and I know when the time comes to say final goodbyes
to my dear Peggy, I`ll be more sad and heartbroken than ever before.

This was one of the reasons why I wanted to dedicate this song to her,
so that I would know deep down in my heart that I`ve been good and
kind, loving towards her when those after departure feelings of quilt
come, so that I can see with my own eyes that I`ve thought about you
and done things for you out of pure love. This one is for you Peggy..

    Milan Kolarovic (a.k.a. Acumen).
