What I love about this kind of music is the great freedom of not having to
try and make the music sound as realistic as possible (it would
just be plain impossible to play it live anyway...)

One thing I just recently tried myself on was the use of instruments
instead of using just the samples... of course one is very much tempted by
the option of replacing manual fade-outs with the note-off command for
example. So a lot of control in favour of luxury is thrown out.A great
advantage is that songs which require a great number of channels one can
be made somewhat easier to over-look...
        Orchestrated songs also win a lot of realism I realized ("The
        Battle Raging" recently extended and fitted with real guitars :-)
