Walking under a Watching Moon
"Sone's Escape from Count Hurl"
-------------------------------
A song about walking forests "Ent-like creatures"
who only seeks to give vengeance on the human race.
Placing themselves around paths or integrating them-
selves into larger forests, the human victim has no
chance of escaping their interlacing paths between
bad-natured trees that only wait to rip off the victim's
head with their branches or let the ground devoure them
with the help of their roots.
This story is about one of their victims called Sone who one
day had the unfortune to stumble upon one of these paths
while running away from a certain count Hurl's armies.
Accused of having slept with all three of the count's daughters
he had no other choice than to run away from his village and
wander into the uncertain.
Pattern:
00-08 Sone is wandering along a path that according to him will
lead him to the capital town of Kula called Hemmer. He is
quite relieved considering that he managed to shake loose
the second unit of count Hurl's armies that had been sent
after him when he was crossing the twisted hills area.
Being so proud of himself he allows himself to relax a
while near a little lake where he probably even would be
able to get some fish. But tired as he is he soon falls
asleep leaving the fish-idea to fade away.
09-0E The evening comes quickly and a clear full-moon rises over
the shadowed hills drawned onto the night-sky landscape and
also something that seems to look like a forest with its
treecrowns sweeping in the night-breeze. This same breeze
finally reaches Sone who, dreaming of the count's three
daughters Sanya, Kettis and Myrl finally wakes up.
0F-12 At first he doesn't notice anything still being so sleepy,
he approaches the surface of the lake and plunges his face
into it. The first things he sees as the surface of the water
becomes clear again are the large tree-crowns which only let
a few stars shine in. Confused and shocked he stumbles up
onto the road around wich large vegetations have suddenly
taken growth.
13-17 The first thing that strikes his mind is that he might have
continued his walk half-asleep and then finally fell asleep
near another lake just like the first one. He decide to
continue along the path finding his direction with the
help of the full-moon still shining high upon the night-sky.
Cold and scared he speeds up his paste along the road
which suddenly breaks into three different paths.
18-1B A shadow stretches towards his head and grabs his hair, he
makes a quick turn in order to face his aggressor but is only
confronted by a large old crooky tree with one of its huge
claw-like branches held motionless at only three inches from
his face. Terrified he starts running for his life not
giving a slightest thought towards which path to choose.
The Moon-light weakens for each new path he chooses as if the
trees closed up upon him and soon the screaming begins...
1C-1E The sun finally rises over a clean road which seems to split
the landscape all the way to the town Hemmer. Not a single trace
of last nights events are to be seen and since noone was there
to see nor hear the hysterical screams of terror Sone finally
let out of himself, only the moon is the one who can tell.
1F-"" Epilogue:
Sones body can still be found deep into the soil of the hills
around that road but noone ever cared to look for him except
for the count who believed him to have gone to the capital-city.
But finally he gave up his search since his three daughters had
all forgotten about Sone and all married rich and powerful men.
20-21 Still roaming during the nights, the walking forests hunt for
human flesh along the roads of Kula and still only the watching
moon is to be the witness.
