Life after 2:00am - Part 3 -------------------------- "South of the Border" -------------------------- Composed/narrated by StOtE/Anemnesis --------------------------------------------------------------------------- (0:00 -> 0:20) Peter ----- We join a young comrade (let's call him Peter) on a long walk to nowhere in particular. The rain beats hard on his face and wind pushes his clothes hard against his skin. Few people are out at this hour, and the pedestrians who are wandering the streets are merely sillhouettes in the gathering storm. Peter thinks of his life; his lack of a job and a his terribly empty stomach... anger wells inside him. If it wasn't for THEM he would have his wishes, he would have back what they had taken from his people. This is what the books said. This is what his late mother told him. How he wished she could see him now. ---- (0:20 -> 0:30) Paul ---- Paul (we'll assume this is his name) had made a fire in a 40 gallon drum. While this kept him warm, he could never quite heat both his back and front at the same time.. this bothered him. On top of this dilemma was his ever present dissallusion; when he was a young child his father told him of a 'land of opportunity', a land where there was enough food and warmth for everyone. Some place this turned out to be. ----- (0:30 -> 0:41) Peter ----- As Peter looked up he saw a light in the distance. It looked warm and inviting, a single flame in the grey, concrete bleakness. He crossed the road and headed toward it. As he approached he saw a figure hunched over the flame. ----- (0:41 -> 1:11) Paul ---- The cold was becoming unbearable now and Paul felt his stomach growling at him, yearning for food it knew it would never get. He thought of his home land, a land rich with unclaimed treasures. Festivals were always plentiful and everyone rejoiced.. until the invasion. He was torn from his family.. the villages raped... the homes burned. Yet the lord never answerd his cries for help... ----- (1:11 -> 1:32) Peter ----- Peter approached the fire, and saw one of 'them'. Images of his family flashed through his mind... contrasted with images of 'their' ugly faces and 'their' unquenchable greed. It was time he got his own back.. it was time he showed them that he would not tolerate their kind in HIS country. His home land. Peter picked up an iron bar from the sidewalk and approached the figure. His decision had been made... the good book had told him this day would come... ----- (1:32 -> 1:52) Paul ---- There was a thud and a red haze fell across his eyes. Paul felt pain on the top of his head, and as he turned there was an angry face above him. "This is for you and your kind" the man snarled and bashed him another couple of times... one on the face.. another on the back. All of a sudden he was back home... then darkness. ----- (1:52 -> 2:03) Peter ----- Peter threw the bar as far as he could, and rolled the crumpled body into a trash pile... "That is where you belong, foreigner." His hands shook and he forgot about the cold that was consuming him. He tried in vain to warm his quivering fingers on the dying flame, and although he had done what he had been raised to do, he felt a horrible emptiness inside. Oh great lord above ... How could he feel like this now ? Indeed how could he ? The cold began to overcome him. ----- (2:03 -> 2:44) Policeman number 1 ------------------ "yes captain, they're both dead. Looks like this foreigner bum killed this guy somehow... then was beaten to death by someone passing by?" ----- (2:44 -> 3:00) Policeman number 2 ------------------ "Serves the bastard right. Pity about this other guy though... poor, poor victim." Indeed. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note: Any similarities between characters or circumstances in this text and any real life occurence is purely coincedental! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Greets to all ! (you know who you are!) Lots of old 8khz sounds! ... mainly from the EGG #2 music disk, Percussion loop from 'New World Order' sample CD, Various tin taps sampled by StOtE (from my kitchen), PolySix bass sampled by AstraDyne, Roland d-50 pad by Pedro/CB (distorted by me!), Analog basses and cheesy lead from a RE:MIX CD (grabbed by StOtE) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
