Ok, you've probably already
guessed what this song is
about--the movie "The Matrix",
which, to my thinking, is
undoubtedly the finest science
fiction movie I've seen in over
20 years...perhaps even *the
best*. It surpasses "Blade
Runner", "Star Trek", "Star Wars",
even (*gasp*, dare I say it?)
"Aliens".
"The Matrix" is without a doubt
the *coolest* movie I've ever
seen. Even though the *science*
behind the film is questionable
at best--the movie is about a
future in which mankind builds
machines which eventually become
self-aware, capable of creating
more machines. Eventually, these
machines create a computer
simulation of all life on the
planet Earth and use this to
enslave humans. But such an
interactive simulation, into which
every human being is plugged in
and sees as his or her own "reality",
would take an entire Universe full
of memory chips to store the
necessary data and programs--even
with this "minor" flaw, the movie
still outperforms every major
science fiction adventure I've
ever seen or read.
This song is my feeble attempt at
a homage to the movie. Now,
granted, there were some questionable
ethics involved--e.g., the need to
kill other humans who were still
enslaved by the machines--and the
violence and non-stop killing
could have detrimental effects on
developing young minds (I've been
wondering if the Littleton, Colorado
teens weren't influenced by this movie),
I am still fascinated by this movie.
I've seen it 6 times thus far, and plan
to see it even more!
Greets fly out to all of me tracking
buddies, and to all newcomers to
the Scene:
* Rebel Riffs
* Chris & the Clones
* Drone
* Trib the Brit
* all IMM reviewers
* all of me heroes (you
know who ye be!)
