Long ago, while on a solitary hike through the woods, I had suffered a 
near-death experience. I had fallen from a great height when I'd slipped 
near the top of a steep ridge. I managed to grab on to a nearby tree 
branch on the way down, however, the branch proved difficult to maintain 
a hold on, so almost immediately after, I'd lost my grip and plummeted 
over 15 feet to land in the bed of a shallow stream. 
I lost consciousness.
I thought I heard music.
When I came to, I picked myself up, battered, wet and bruised, and headed 
home. That branch had probably saved my life.
On rare occasion, I'd faintly hear that quiet song in the back of my mind, 
usually when it was nighttime, quiet and gently snowing. Whether it was 
the cold, dark or the silence that triggered the memory I'm not sure.
Believe it or not, this is where this song came from; Extracted and 
reconstructed from fragments of a memory somewhere from the edge of 
consciousness. I don't know If I'd done it any justice, but I hope 
you like it just the same.
